Elmendorf repositions aircraft in response to Redoubt eruption

3/26/2009 - ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska  -- The 3rd Wing is repositioning aircraft as a precautionary measure due to recent eruption of Mt. Redoubt to prevent possible ash damage. The base is moving four F-15C's, one E-3 AWACS, and one C-17 to Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Additionally, two C-17's are being moved to McChord Air Force Base near Tacoma, Wash. All other Elmendorf aircraft will be sheltered in place. The base and airfield remain open.
